What was I doing wrong?
In high school, Subway was my favorite restaurant and I would order a footlong
meat sub, a cookie and a bag of chips for lunch everyday. Friday night was pizza night which was
homemade by my father or ordered from the local Pizza place. After school I always made a snack which
would usually be nachos, peanut butter and jelly with milk or leftover
lasagna. Sunday morning breakfast was always an event. We would make pancakes, eggs,
bacon and sautéed potatoes. I would eat so much I wanted to crawl back in to bed and
fall asleep. Finding the parties on the weekends was always my mission. My friends and
I would party and drink then seek out the closest Taco Bell or McDonald's so we
could chow. With the Colorado Rockies at my door step, I would go on hikes and
mtn. bike trips once in a while. It was
excruciatingly hard and I was always out of breath. I loved being in the mountains but I was
miserable at the same time.
I noticed my clothes started to feel uncomfortable and tight. My belly was
hanging over my pants and they were super difficult to button. I
was going to have to buy size 9 pants. I
started buying lose fitting shirts to hide my extra weight. Honestly, I felt like a slob and ugly.
I was disgusted with how I looked in the
mirror. Guys didn't even look at me or
have any interest in me.
One day I over heard my sister telling my mom she noticed I had gained weight & I had
"cankles!" If my family was noticing my weight gain then I'm sure other people were. Were other
